A sisterhood of business builders, mom-bosses, side-hustlers, creatives, and visionaries...
...who want to experience Godās presence & power as they live their purpose by creating provision for their family and friends.
Does the "business side" of it have you feeling more stressed than blessed?
Perhaps some of the following seems familiar.
š„ Thereās more month left when the money runs out, yet you feel thereās probably somethingā a purpose deep inside youā that could boost your familyās profit potential if you had the right training AND support system.
š„ You work a network marketing business or MLM. You love the products, but youāve watched all the business training and it seems āicky.ā You wonder if thereās a better way.
š„ You have a dream of running a small business, but you researched the governmentās āsmall businessā website and it talks about āsmall businessā as having ā500 or fewer employeesā and $10+ million dollars in revenueā per year and you (rightly) think, āThat seems BIG.ā You wonder where you fit in.
š„ You LOVE your role as a wife and/or mom, yet you ALSO know God has placed gifts and a passion inside you to do something you feel could earn an incomeā and you want to do both.
š„ āThe business sideā of it seems so overwhelming. You learned some things in school, but you arenāt sure how to file which forms and how to get āall the thingsā set up. You want to do the work, but you feel like there are so many āhoopsā to jump through. You want to fast track what you MUST do, so you can get to the work you WANT to do.
š„ Youāve realized that working as a solopreneur and mom-boss is both awesome AND lonely at times. You want to link arms with other like-minded ladies, even if theyāre in a different field, because you realize weāre better together.
š„ You don't know what you don't know-- about setting up the "business side" of it all... and want help with a fill-in-the-blank, color-by-number type of framework that helps check all the boxes.
Women at the Gate is for you!
Hello, friend!Ā

I'm Kay.Ā
I think of myself as a serial entrepreneur, a Mom & "Grandee," and your friend.Ā
My late-husband (Bob) and I did everything from a Pharmacy to Tea Rooms to raising a family. Everything we did, we did together.
My latest venture is a shop thatās part-plants, part-home decor, and full-on fun. I call it Topiaries.
Visit TopiariesIn hindsight, I learned that a Topiary is a plant thatās been intentionally pruned to reveal a unique design. Though I didnāt understand it at first, Topiary describes exactly how I felt after losing a business and my precious soul mate. Perhaps you can relate.
That said...
I believe some of the biggest things God has forĀ me (and you!) still await this chapter of life. Thatās why I launched Women at the Gate.

About the GatesĀ

āThe gatesā are one of the primary places of business in the Bible.
Abraham bought a field at the gates (Genesis 23:17), Lot transacted business there as he integrated into life in Sodom (Genesis 19:1), and Boaz asserted his intention to redeem a kinsmanās estate and marry Ruth at the gates (Ruth 4:1-11).
Once you āseeā what the gates are in the ancient world, you canāt read the Scripture without noticing Godās desire for His people to do great work in the arena of business.
Weāre taught that the Lord desires for these gatesā for businessā to be a place marked by His presence and power.
He instructed parents to āwrite His commandsā on the doorposts of their homes AND at the city gates (Deuteronomy 6:9).
King David encouraged the people of God to prepare a place for Him by opening these gates for the āKing of Gloryā (see Psalm 24:7).

For sure, the enemy waged (and still does!) spiritual warfare against the gates (read: business and finance), such that wayward worshippers built altars at the gates instead (2 Kings 23:8, 2 Chronicles 6:28).
But Godās people were encouraged to not to afflict others at the gates (Proverbs 22:22), as well as take steps to not oppress the poor in this arena (Amos 5:12).
Wisdom is required in the gates (Proverbs 24:7), so that Godās people can implement strategies of bringing peace and fostering prosperity at the gates (Zechariah 8:16)
Proverbs 31:23 affirms that a womenās husband is known in the city gates, but it continuesā¦
āļø She makes and sells her wares as well (31:24f.).
āļø She is full of honor and wisdomā which she imparts to others (31:25f.).
āļø She is praised in those same gates (Proverbs 31:31).

If you've got an idea for a Kingdom-driven business, you're in the right place!Ā
What We Teach
Our simple business framework is built on the following steps!

1. Invite God's presence
God wants you to experience His nearness in each area of lifeā in your marriage, in your parenting, and in your business. There is no arena of life He doesnāt make a difference. Yes, this includes the "gates."

2. Implement the 5-part Kingdom business framework
The Scripture outlines specific steps we can take to experience Godās power in our business, regardless of the field. Though not a formula, we want to lean into His precepts.

3. Increase your potential
When the Holy Spirit shows up, everything ālevels up.ā The way we interact with both clients / customers AND employees / contractors changes. Impact grows. Profit soars.
The Kingdom Business Framework

Our 5-part framework equips you to build a Kingdom enterprise in any field you choose.
šø Presence & power = Partner with God not only in your personal life but also in your business decisions. He wants to show up in your work in the same way He manifests in other areas of life.
šø Principles of business = Implement the precepts we teach, all found in the book of Proverbs, about running a Kingdom business. These timeless truths work anytime we implement them consistently.Ā
šø Promotion & marketing = Work through our messaging resources so you can clearly communicate what you do, showĀ prospects how to connect with you, and then serve them at a higher level. When this happens, your customer base grows and profits escalate.Ā
šø Professional requirements = Though most of us don't like to think about them, there are certain things we must do in order to run a business. We'll help you navigate incorporation, bylaws, IRS filings, spreadsheets, and other necessities.
šø Personal care & growth = your business will never outgrow your personal capacity. You must take care of you. With proper boundaries, you can "win at work" and "win at home," and you can succeed in business while remaining centered and whole.

The fine print
Starting a business is hard work. Running one without losing yourself in the process is even harder.
Ā
But, you donāt have to figure it out by yourself AND you donāt have to do it alone. God didnāt design us to āmarch solo,ā even if you are a solopreneur. He created us to thrive in community.
And, weāve discovered that we often learn the most when we lean into relationships with other like-minded womenā even if they work in a different career field. Because of our passion for the Creator and our desire to glorify Him in every area of lifeā including businessā we have more in common than our chosen profession.
Ā
Some of the biggest breakthroughs come in the simple conversations we have when we come together with no expectation but to be present with others. Weāve learned thatā in those momentsā the Holy Spirit often shows up, provides insight as to what we need, and ignites creativity.
Ā
Whether youāve been working your business for decades, are just starting, or are yet to begin⦠weāll show you how to:
šø Experience Godās presence & power in your work.
šø Create a business based on solid principles.
šø Clearly communicate with your ideal audience, so you figure out how to do promotion & marketing in a honorable way.
šø Check all the boxesā and handle the professional requirements / ābusiness sideā of it.
šø Take care of you, b/c the business wonāt outgrow the person leading it.
