Make the first & last page (of your book) a lead generator

books marketing Jun 01, 2023

Here's a quick, easy way to use your book as a lead generator...

Provide readers with next steps in the book— in the front and the back.  After all, once they see your name on the front cover, they presume you’re an expert.

A few years ago I watched a self-publishing guru provide a few tips on how market your book. I don’t remember much about what he said, but I did catch this…

“Amazon always let’s people peek inside the book and see the first few pages,” he said. “Take advantage of that. On those first few pages, right before or after your table of contents, give people a reason to go to your website and connect with you. Place a free opt-in right there.”

Since then, I’ve taken this advice to heart— and not just because people scan the first few pages of books when they’re on Amazon. They also pick books up and flip through the pages when they’re in person. I’ve watched people pick up my books at live events, then follow link immediately to my webpage.

(If you have any of my books, take a moment and flip to the first page or last page of the book, and you’ll see what I mean.)

Provide them with a next step after reading the book, as well. Don’t let them just finish and think, “Oh, that was a good read…” and then set the volume aside. Tell them where to go in order to continue the journey with you. Offer them a specific Call to Action (CTA).
